µVision2 Supports Actel FPGA Core8051

Plano, TX: Keil Software today announced cycle-accurate simulation support in the µVision IDE/Simulator for the Actel FPGA-based Core8051 8-bit microcontroller. Core8051 is optimized for Actel FPGAs and integrates seamlessly with the Keil PK51 Professional Developer's Kit which includes the µVision2 IDE/Simulator/Debugger, C compiler, assembler, linker, and tiny RTOS. Also available are On-Chip Instrumentation (OCI) system analyzer software and a debugger from First Silicon Solutions (FS2) which offers four hardware execution breakpoints, unlimited software breakpoints, and optional trigger and trace capabilities.

Platform8051 Embedded System Platform

Core8051 is an IP core which is a part of Actel's Platform8051 solution. Platform8051 is the industry's first embedded system platform for highly integrated 8051 designs. It consists of six popular pre-integrated and pre-verified IP soft cores optimized for use with Actel FPGAs. Designers may specify any configuration of industry standard IP cores, including the Actel Core8051, and a range of peripherals, and receive platform design files via a web-based delivery system. Platform8051 may be used with many Actel FPGA families including ProASIC Plus, Axcelerator, SXA, and RTXS to deliver highly integrated 8051 based products.

The initial Platform8051 IP family includes Core8051 along with popular DirectCore peripheral IP including:

  10/100Mbps Ethernet core, an Ethernet-protocol transceiver/controller.
• CoreI2C
  Standard Inter-Integrated Circuit core, a two-wire master/slave serial interface.

  Serial Peripheral Interface core, a point-to-point master/slave serial interface.
• CoreSDLC
  Synchronous Data Link Controller core, a high speed synchronous serial interface.
• Core16X50
  Universal Asynchronous Receiver Transmitter (UART) core, a serial communications controller.
