µVISION: DEBUGGER IN C51 V6 VERSUS DSCOPE IN C51 V5

Information in this article applies to:

  • C51 Version 5.50
  • C51 Version 6.00

QUESTION

When I received my C51 kit, I got both V5.50 and V6.00. I'm not sure I understand the differences between dScope and the µVision debugger.

ANSWER

DK51 V5.50 includes the µVision IDE and the dScope debugger. These are separate programs. There are several floppy disks that are labeled DK51 V5.50. You must use these disks to install the V5.50 tools.

DK51 V6.00 includes the µVision IDE and Debugger. This is a single program. Everything is integrated. There is a CD-ROM and an ADD-ON disk that are both necessary for installing the V6.00 tools. Start with the CD-ROM and insert the ADD-ON disk when prompted.
