QUESTION

What is the difference between the C51 Compiler and the CX51 Compiler?

ANSWER

The C51 Compiler is an 8051 compiler that supports all devices that are 100% compatible with the Intel 8051 instruction set.

The CX51 Compiler is a 51MX compiler that supports only the Philips 51MX devices. These devices have numerous additional instructions which require a new compiler.

If you use the Philips 51MX architecture, use the CX51 Compiler. If you use any other 8051 derivative, use the C51 Compiler. All options for the C51 Compiler are available with the CX51 Compiler.
