MCBXC167: CAN INTERFACE PROBLEMS

Information in this article applies to:

  • MCB-XC167 Evaluation Boards

SYMPTOM

The CAN I/O port on the MCB-XC167 board does not work as it should.

CAUSE

According to the schematics, the pins CANL and CANH are wired to pin 2 and 7 of the DB-9 connector. However, they are actually connected to pin 4 and pin 8.

RESOLUTION

Pin 4 and pin 8 are not used on the CAN connector. So the workaround is to connect pin 2 to pin 4 and pin 7 to pin 8 underneath the DB9 connectors.

STATUS

Most of the MCB-XC167 boards are already shipped with a correction for that error. Check your board first to see if it already has this fix.
