MCBSTR750: RECOVER STR75X WHEN JTAG DISABLED

QUESTION

I cannot connect to the STR75x device on my board. Instead I get messages like:

Couldn't stop ARM device

What can cause this on the STR750 STMicroelectronic Device?

ANSWER

The JTAG interface can be disabled by random CPU instructions or by the power-down mode of the device.  To correct this, enable the on-chip boot loader, allowing the STR75x device to execute a valid program.

Setting the following configuration pins enables the on-chip boot loader:

BOOT0 = 3.3V
BOOT1 = GND
