ULINK: CANNOT DEBUG LPC2378 OR LPC2368 DEVICE

Information in this article applies to:

  • ULINK2 USB-JTAG Adapter
  • NXP LPC2368 or LPC2378 A-Step device

QUESTION

I am using the Ethernet controller on the LPC23xx devices (A-Step version). After initalization of the Ethernet software I am getting the following error from ULINK:

ULINK - ARM Error:
Could not stop ARM device!
Please check the JTAG cable.

What can be wrong?

ANSWER

The A-Step devices require a slightly different Ethernet initialization (explained also in the NXP errata sheet). It is required that you change the initalization code as explained in the Knowledgebase Article MCB2300: ETHERNET INTERFACE FAILS ON A-STEP DEVICES
